Lyons Rally Past Union in Monday Scrimmage

It was rally time for the Lyon County Lyons Monday afternoon. The Lyons came from six runs down and picked up an 8-6 win in a nine-inning scrimmage against the Union County Braves at Lee S. Jones Park.

Union County scored three runs in the top of the first and three more in the top of the third to take a 6-0 lead.

The Lyons started their rally in the bottom of the third when Peyton Carney came up with a triple and then scored on a ground out from Colton Prow to make it 6-1.

Lyon County then scored three more in the bottom of the sixth. The big hits were an RBI triple from John Bingham and an RBI single from Austin Spears.

The Lyons tallied three times in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead. The big shot in the inning was an RBI double off the bat of Peyton Williams. Lyon County tacked on another run in the 9th on a single from Eli Baker to close out the scoring in the scrimmage.

Baker had two hits, an RBI, and scored a run in the game. Austin Spears had a hit and two RBIs.

Eight different Lyons had a hit in the game as Lyon County whacked out 11 hits on the evening.

On the mound, Austin Spears let the pitching staff effort. Spears went four innings, giving up one run on two hits, striking out five while walking two.

The Lyons will officially open the season Monday on the road at Calloway County.
