Lyon County’s lineup doesn’t need any help from opposing pitchers to do damage, but the Lyons were happy recipients of 12 walks on Monday against Livingston Central on the way to an 11-1 five-inning victory over the Cardinals.
The Lyons bounced back from a loss at Marshall County on Saturday to improve to 4-2, 2-0 in 8th-District play. Livingston dropped its district opener to slip to 0-4.
Trailing by a run, the Lyons loaded the bases in the bottom of the 2nd and blew the game open with eight runs. Austin Spears smacked a two-run double to start the rally, and back-to-back RBI singles by Turner Hurst and Aiden Waters put the Lyons in control.
Lyon County’s Drew Richie picked up his first win of the season on the mound, allowing an unearned run on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
Spears drove in a pair of runs for the Lyons, and Brady Belt, Eli Baker, and John Bingham each had an RBI.
Lyon County will look to make it two with a row with a trip to Carlisle County on Tuesday.
