Caldwell County used small ball and key defensive plays to hand Fort Campbell a 9-1 loss Monday in the All A Classic region quarterfinals. The Lady Tigers will play Livingston Central in Tuesday’s semifinal at Lyon County.

Caldwell County followed six walks and three hit batters with 10 stolen bases. The Lady Tigers had their chances to tack on more runs but stranded five runners in scoring position.

Fort Campbell pushed across its only run in the first inning when Ryleigh Watry led off with a single, got to second, and stole third. She scored on a ground out by Daniela Hernandez.

Caldwell County answered with two runs in the home half of the first. A.J. Hollowell singled and later scored on a Brylee Butts sacrifice fly. Alicia Stanley was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on a double by Adley Lewis.

Hollowell was hit by a pitch with two outs in the second and scored on a pair of Lady Falcon passed balls. Hollowell added an RBI ground out in the fourth inning for a 4-1 lead.

Caldwell scored five runs in the fifth on just two hits.

Doubles by Alexis Wood and Lewis accounted for two of Caldwell’s six hits. Hollowell and Stanley each scored a pair of runs.

Wood pitched a three-hitter, allowing one earned run, and struck out ten while issuing no walks.

Watry had two of Fort Campbell’s three hits.

Kiley McCrary struck out seven in the circle for Fort Campbell (2-5), who remained winless all-time against Caldwell County since the statewide switch to fast pitch in 1995.

Caldwell County (6-6) will play Livingston Central Tuesday at 5:30. The Lady Cardinals beat University Heights Academy in a quarterfinal Monday in Hopkinsville.
