After a senior season that ended up with him sitting out until the postseason, Lyon County senior Bradin Nelson has announced that he will get the chance to play on the collegiate level. In a social media post Tuesday afternoon, Nelson announced that he would be attending the University of Tennesse Southern, in Pulaski, Tennessee.

After having requests denied by the KHSAA to grant him a transfer waiver and avoid a year of sitting out, Nelson became eligible for Lyon County just in time for the Lyons second straight 2nd Region championship.

Nelson saw action in six games for Lyon County during the 2023 postseason. He averaged 5.5 points and 5.0 rebounds a game. Nelson played in the 5th District championship game, the three games of the 2nd Region tournament, and the two games in the Boys Sweet 16 at Rupp Arena.

During his junior season in 2021-2022 at Webster County, Nelson averaged 14.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest.

UT-Southern is an NAIA school competing in the Mid-South Conference.
