University Heights Academy won at the VFW Ballpark in Princeton on Tuesday, using a three-run third inning and a four-run fourth to knock off Caldwell County 7-3 on Senior Day.

The Tigers had grabbed an early 2-0 lead with single tallies in the first and second innings.

UHA (14-9) received three straight walks to start the third inning — and all three eventually scored to give the Blazers a 3-2 advantage.

Jackson Flynn drove in a run when he reached on a fielder’s choice. Sacrifice flies to center by Ty Hunt and Gavin LaRonge put the Blazers in front.

In the fourth inning, a pair of Caldwell errors opened the door for University Heights to score four times. That made it a 7-2 ballgame.

Ben Stone and Hunt each had RBI singles, then LaRonge singled home two runs and UHA took control of the contest.

Caldwell’s final run came when Hunter Newsom homered to left field leading off the bottom of the seventh inning. However, the Tigers could get no closer than 7-3.

Flynn allowed two runs on eight hits over five innings and was the winning pitcher for UHA. Bryson Turner tossed the final two innings for the Blazers, giving up just one run on two hits.

Ari Wells suffered the loss for Caldwell, giving up six earned runs on three base hits.
