Lady Rockets Sock Lyon Early to Claim District Title

For the second straight time, the Crittenden County Lady Rockets won the 5th District softball as the host, clubbing Lyon County 10-1 Tuesday.

It capped a two-day stretch that saw them outscore their opponents 17-2 and win their fourth straight game.

The first six Lady Rockets reached base in the first inning that resulted in five runs and set the tone for the game.

Elliot Evans, Anna Boone, Hannah Jent, and Jaycee Champion each had two hits for the Lady Rockets. Elle McDaniel drove in three runs, and Champion had two.

Anna Boone was strong in the circle, pitching a three-hitter and striking out four.

Lyon got on the board in the fourth inning when Courtney Collins singled and moved to second on a walk. She scored on a Lady Rocket error.

Both Crittenden County (13-15) and Lyon County (9-18) will move on to the region tournament at Hopkins County Central High School this weekend.
