
Lyon County’s doubles team of Dalton Phillips and Jackson Crawford are headed to the KHSAA State Tennis Championships after a runner-up finish at the 2nd Region Tournament.
Phillips and Crawford, the top-seeded team in the field, took out Henderson County’s third-seeded team of Thomas Berger and Alton Berger 6-1, 7-6 (7-1) in the semifinal round on Wednesday.
However, the Lyon duo fell to Caldwell County’s second-seeded squad of Grayden Miller and Nick Adams 6-2, 6-4 in the championship match Wednesday afternoon.
Phillips and Crawford had breezed through their first matches on Tuesday by scores of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-0.
Phillips and Crawford will next play in the state tournament in Lexington May 30-June 1.
