It was a long bus ride but a short stay in Louisville for the Hoptown Hoppers Saturday evening. The Louisville Jockeys were the beneficiaries of five Hopper errors and eight walks as they rolled to a 12-1 seven-inning win, ending the Hoppers’ two-game winning streak.
Hoptown led briefly after Chase Cummings hit into a ground out, scoring Carter Hood in the top of the second, giving the Hoppers a 1-0 lead.
Louisville responded by scoring five runs in the bottom half of the inning. That outburst was the beginning of 12 straight runs over the next four innings as the Jockeys quickly settled the issue.
The Hoppers’ lineup was limited to just three hits in the contest. Those hits coming from Dom Oliverio, Chase Cummings, and Sam Perkins.
Hoptown starter Baylen White was charged with the loss after giving up nine runs, eight of them earned, in three innings on the mound. He struck out four and walked three.
