It did not come easy, but the Todd County Central Lady Rebels picked up their seventh straight win over the Russellville Lady Panthers Tuesday night. The Lady Rebels hit four of their five penalty kicks and that was enough to carry them to a 1-0 win over the Lady Panthers in Elkton.
The two teams battled to a scoreless draw through the first 40 minutes of the match. The second half saw more of the same, as did the golden goal overtime periods, which meant the district match would be decided with penalty kicks.
Elizabeth Langley made hers for the Lady Rebels, while Russellville missed their first shot. Jaidyn Holland also made her kick and Russellville missed again, putting Todd Central up 2-0.
Scarlett Lancaster made it 3 for 3 for the Lady Rebels. Russellville made their first kick to put it at 3-1.
Darby Delph missed her kick and Russellville made their second straight to put the PK score at 3-2 going to the final attempt.
Senior Melanie Chamberlaine then closed out the match as she made her try, giving the Lady Rebels the win.
Darby Delph had a super night in goal for the Lady Rebels, finishing with 10 saves.
The Lady Rebels improve to 5-4-1 overall with the win and 3-2 in district play. Both regular season matches with the Lady Panthers have come down to penalty kicks with the Lady Rebels winning both.
