PREVIEW – Lady Falcons Starting Over in 2023-24

With a new coach on the sideline and only a single returning contributor on the roster, the Fort Campbell girls’ basketball team is truly starting from scratch in 2023-24.

A 2-20 campaign was the last for Larry Dixon after four years and a 3-63 record leading the Lady Falcons.  First-year coach Tynisa Young inherits a team returning only Rosella Rajj from a year ago.

Rajj led the squad in points with 7.6 per game and pulled down a team-high 8.2 rebounds.  The Lady Falcons only lost two players to graduation, but second and third-leading scorers Charlize Cruz and Jaidah Ezcaman didn’t return along with second-leading rebounder Shyann Southard.

Young expects sophomore Jerni Hicks and junior India Price to help fill the scoring void, and reinforcements appear to be on the way with four freshmen and five middle-schoolers rounding out the roster.

The Lady Falcons will open at Northeast on Thursday before opening 8th-District play at Heritage Christian Academy on December 7.  Fort Campbell has lost all three previous meetings with the Lady Warriors, including a 57-18 decision last season..
