The Heritage Christian Academy boys’ basketball team led off in the first of four games on Saturday at the City of Hopkinsville Holiday Classic, cruising past PACHEK 77-55 in a game the Warriors led by as many as 35 points in the fourth quarter.
The Warriors won for the fourth time in five outings to improve to 6-4 ahead of a matchup with 8th-District rivals UHA on Tuesday in the All ‘A’ Classic.
HCA trailed 6-0 after a three-pointer by PACHEK’s Cash McAlister, but the Warriors answered with a 15-0 run and were in control the rest of the way. Jason Leek drilled a pair of first-quarter three-pointers on the way to eight points, and Layton Giltner added five for a 15-11 advantage.
A 13-1 spurt to start the second quarter was the knockout blow, with the Warriors leading 28-12 after Landon Wells’ jumper with 4:25 left in the half. Leek poured in 12 points in the frame, and his three-pointer followed by a Wells putback gave HCA a 28-point cushion at the break.
