HCA Warriors Advance to Winner’s Bracket Semis at KCAC Tournament

The Heritage Christian Warriors are off to the winner’s bracket semifinals of the KCAC state tournament. The Warriors advanced Friday night with a 60-51 win over Christian Fellowship in Radcliff.

Jason Leek continued his outstanding season for HCA. Leek ended the game with 30 points, including going 6 of 6 at the free throw line in the final quarter.

The game was close through the first half. The Warriors trailed 17-15 after one and 30-28 at the half.

The Warrior defense clamped down on the Eagles in the third quarter, allowing CFS just 11 points. At the other end, Leek and big man Layton Giltner combined to score 16 points in the third quarter, leading the Warriors to the front and helping to give HCA at 48-41 lead going into the last eight minutes of the game.

Leek then did the job at the line coming down the stretch to help the Warriors take the nine point win.

In addition to Leek’s 30 points, Layton Giltner added 18 for Heritage Christian.

Elijah Grigg was the top scorer for Christian Fellowship with 16 points. Samuel Grigg and Jakin Burnett finished with 12 points each.
