It had been two months since the Russellville Lady Panthers won a game on the basketball court before Monday night’s action, but they did not have to wait any longer for their next victory. The Lady Panthers got big nights from Chrissy Higgins and Mariyah Merriweather as they ended a 16-game losing streak with a 57-21 home-court win over the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons.

The Lady Panther defense held the Lady Falcons to fewer than ten points in each quarter of the game.

Fort Campbell was limited to one field goal and two free throws in the first quarter as the Lady Panthers took an 11-4 lead.

Russellville then blew the game open in the second quarter. With Higgins and Merriweather combining to score 25 points, the Lady Panthers ran out to a 39-10 halftime lead.

Like the first quarter, the Lady Falcons were held to one field goal and two free throws in the third quarter as the Russellville lead grew to 50-14 heading into the final quarter.

With the running clock in play, the rest of the game played out quickly as each team put up seven points in the final quarter.

Chrissy Higgins and Mariyah Merriweather each finished with 21 points to lead Russellville.

Rosella Rajj reached double figures for the Lady Falcons with 10 points, including the 500th point of her high school career.

The Lady Falcons drop to 4-15 on the season with the loss. Fort Campbell gets back to action Thursday on the road at Community Christian.
