Kentucky’s defense and toughness has been questioned over the course of the last few weeks. And rightfully so, considering how they’ve played.
But the No. 22 Wildcats at least a few of those questions on Saturday night in their 70-59 win at No. 13 Auburn.
Kentucky played sound defense for the entire game, limiting the Tigers to under 31% shooting and forcing 12 turnovers that led to 23 points for the Wildcats.
Veteran guard Antonio Reeves continued his SEC Player of the Year campaign with a game-high 22 points. He was instrumental in hitting key shots, especially in the second half to hold off any hopes of a rally by Auburn.
Sophomores Adou Thiero and Ugonna Onyenso set the tone defensively, while the former also poured in a second-best 14 points. Onyenso played over 36 minutes in the game, further making his case as the team’s anchor on defense.
Kentucky still has much to prove, especially when it comes to playing that way consistently. But Saturday night’s win was a much-needed step in the right direction.
Next up for the Wildcats is another road trip on Wednesday as Kentucky travels to LSU. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 PM ET with coverage on ESPN.

It’s only a statement win if we go 5-1 these last 6 games. 3-3 is more likely and we will be ANOTHER double digit loss Calipari team.
