A seven-run second inning and a strong performance in the circle by Lilly Perry led the Lyon County softball team to a 13-2 victory over visiting Todd County Central on Friday.  The Lady Lyons bounced back from an opening-night defeat to even their record ahead of a trip to Paducah Tilghman on Saturday.

After a scoreless first frame, Todd Central jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Averie Luckenbill’s RBI double, but that would be all the offense the Lady Rebels could generate against Perry.

The Lady Lyons answered in their next at-bat, pushing runs across on three-straight RBI bunts before Perry helped herself with a two-run double for a 5-2 advantage.  Gracen Wynn followed with a two-run home run over the centerfield fence to put Lyon County in control.

Lauren Davis and Piper Cotham singled in runs in the third and another came in on a passed ball to push the Lady Lyons’ lead to eight.  Perry pitched around a pair of singles in the Todd Central fourth, and the Lady Rebels went down in order in the fifth.

Brenna Breitrick singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth, and Audrey Akridge grounded out to bring in a run and put the Lady Lyons on the brink of a mercy-rule win.  Davis singled to finish a 3/3 day at the plate, and Courtney Collins cleared the left-field fence on a 2-2 pitch to walk it off.

Perry scattered four hits with a walk and five strikeouts to earn the win.  Addison Woodall took the loss for the Lady Rebels, allowing 10 runs, four earned, on seven hits with a strikeout before handing off to Jocelyn Mock to work the last one and two-thirds innings.

Cotham joined Davis with three hits and two runs driven in for Lyon County, and Collins, Perry, and Wynn each finished with two RBI.

Todd Central slipped to 0-1 and will look to pick up its first win on Tuesday when Fort Campbell makes its way to Elkton.
