Caldwell County connected for five home runs — including back-to-back-to-back shots in the second inning — while defeating Union County 11-6 Friday at Lady Tiger Field in Princeton.

Caldwell pounded out 17 base hits while beating the Bravettes for the seventh straight time.

The difference in the game was a seven-run second inning fro the Lady Tigers.

Caldwell sent 13 batters to the plate in that inning. An RBI double just inside the first-base bag by Daelen Kizzee gave the Lady Tigers a 2-1 lead and left runners at second and third with no outs.

Brylee Butts then homered to left field to quickly put three more runs on the board and make it 5-1. It was Butts’ second home run of the day. She hit one out to right-center leading off the bottom of the first inning.

But the Lady Tigers weren’t done. Harper Holeman followed with a home run to left, then Alicia Stanley blasted another to center to extend the margin to 7-1.

Madison French later singled in a run to cap the big inning and make it an 8-1 ballgame.

Union (2-4) got a run in the top of the third, but Caldwell countered in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double by Adley Lewis, making it 9-2.

The Bravettes scored twice in the fifth to pull within 9-4, but stranded two other runners.

However, Caldwell answered those runs in the bottom of the sixth, getting a two-run home run by Alexis Wood to go up 11-4.

Ava Arnett had a two-run homer for Union in the top of the seventh to make it 11-6, but that’s as close as the Bravettes could get.

Lewis was 4-for-4 at the plate for Caldwell while Butts finished 3-for-4 with the two home runs and four runs batted in.

Maci Tyler went 3-for-4 while Holeman and Kizzee were each 2-for-4.

For Union, Audrey Staley, Ashlynn Hargrove and Sydney Thomas were each 2-for-4.

Wood was the winning hurler for Caldwell. She allowed four earned runs on 11 base hits while walking two and striking out two.

The Lady Tigers next play two games in the Prickly Peach Invitational at Trigg County on Saturday, facing both the host Lady Wildcats and Graves County.
