
Lyon County split a pair of softball games Saturday in Lexington.
The Lady Lyons routed Clay County 10-0 but fell to host Bryan Station 4-1.
In the triumph over Clay, Lyon scored 10 times in the bottom of the first inning, sending 14 batters to the plate in the big frame.
Courtney Collins went 2-for-2 with a double, a home run and four runs batted in to lead the Lady Lyon offense. Lilly Perry was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI and Emma Brasher was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Meanwhile Destany Cayce scattered eight base hits while earning the shutout in the pitching circle. She struck out nine and and walked none in the five-inning contest.
Against Bryan Station, the Defenders scored three times in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie and deal the Lady Lyons the three-run setback.
An RBI groundout by Perry in the top of the first inning gave Lyon a 1-0 lead.
However, Bryan Station tied the game in the bottom of the frame before putting up the go-ahead runs in the fifth.
Tiahna Bowman was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and two runs batted in for the Lexington school.
Olivia Moore went 2-for-3 for Lyon. Collins and Jenna Coursey each had doubles.
The Lady Lyons are now 5-5.
Next up is a home date Monday against Dawson Springs in a first round matchup in the 2nd Region All A Classic.
