In a doubleheader matchup, the day Saturday between the Fort Knox Lady Eagles and the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons belonged to the Lady Eagles. Fort Knox swept the twin bill taking the opener 10-6 and then closing out the day with a 4-inning 12-6 win.

The first game saw the Lady Eagles take a 7-1 lead after three innings and then ride it out to a 4-run win.

Fort Knox was able to overcome a big day from the Lady Falcons’ Baylee Backes, who went 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Emma Kolmerton finished the game 2-4 with two RBIs.

Hailey Herron went the distance in the circle in the opening game, giving up 10 runs on 16 hits, striking out three and walking four.

The Lady Falcons opened quickly in the second game, scoring four runs in the top of the first, but it would not be enough.

Fort Knox responded by scoring the next 12 runs as the Lady Eagles took the 12-6 win in a game that was only four innings in length. Fort Knox scored one in the first, six in the second, and five more in the third to build a lead that was too much for the Lady Falcons to overcome.

Emma Kolmerton was 2-2 with a pair of runs scored to lead Fort Campbell. Hailey Herron and Jordan Herring were each 1-2 with an RBI.

Baylee Backes and Hailey Herron combined to go three innings in the circle, giving up 12 runs, 9 of them earned, on just seven hits, striking out four and walking five.
