Mobley Sets School Mark, Tigers Take 2nd in Final Flight Invite

Cooper Mobley set another school record in the shot put as Caldwell County’s guys placed second in their own Final Flight Invitational on Saturday.

Mobley won the shot put competition by 12 feet, 9 inches with a throw of 52 feet, 1.5 inches, breaking his own school mark in that event. He also placed third in the discus at 120 feet, 7 inches.

That helped the Tigers total 146.5 team points. That trailed only Fort Campbell’s 181 points. Madisonville-North Hopkins placed third with 116 points.

Caldwell’s Jackson Risley won the javelin throw with a distance of 109 feet, 6.5 inches. Nathan Gibson was fourth in that event at 63 feet, 1 inch.

Shane Fairrow took the 100-meter dash in 11.44 seconds, crossing the finish line just .01 seconds ahead of Madisonville’s Manny Burrus. Fairrow was second in the 200 dash in 23.90 seconds.

Daniel Laurent finished second in the discus at 126 feet, 2.5 inches — less than a foot behind the winner. Laurent was fourth in the shot put at 38 feet, 6.5 inches.

Max Heaton took second in the 110 hurdles in 18.13 seconds.

Risley was second in the 300 hurdles in 45.07 seconds while Heaton was third in 45.11.

Two Caldwell relays teams placed second. The 4×100 team of Luke Maddox, Tre Copeland, Gus Fox and Fairrow was second in 45.24 seconds. The 4×200 squad of Maddox, Copeland, Xzavier Lee and Fairrow finished second in 1:33.13.

The 4×400 team of Charles Ray, Heaton, Copeland and Lee was third in 3:48.39.

Copeland was third in the 200 dash in 24.21 seconds. Maddox placed fourth in that event in 24.23 seconds.

Maddox was fourth in the 100 dash in 11.66 seconds. Fox was seventh in 12.17 seconds.

Ray was fourth in the 400 dash in 58.81 seconds.

Risley was fifth in the triple jump at 36 feet, 3 inches. Heaton took sixth at 36 feet.

Layton Wall placed sixth in the 800 run in 2:25.18. Hoayang Wu was 10th in that event in 2:37.05.

Lee was sixth in the long jump at 18 feet, 1 inch. Fox was eighth at 16 feet, 11 inches.

Risley was seventh in the high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches.

Alexander Sample placed seventh in the discus at 91 feet, 6 inches.

Johnathon Adams finished eighth in the 1,600 run in 5:47.23.

Dawson Springs placed fourth in the team standings with 75.5 points, followed by Ballard Memorial (64), Crittenden County (41), Hopkins County Central (22), Murray (12) and Paducah St. Mary (4).

Next on the track schedule is the Class A 1st Region meet this Saturday at Murray High School.
