Lady Colonels Qualify Two Relay Teams for State Meet

Christian County had a pair of sprint relays qualify for the state track and field meet following high finishes at the Class 3A Region 1 Meet Tuesday at Marshall County.

The 800-meter relay team of Kaidence Atwell, Symeria Brown, Jazmyn Rodriguez, and Jayda Johnson came in third place with a time of 1:49.60.

The same group ran a 51.89 in the 400-meter relay to finish in fourth place. Those relay teams qualified for next week’s state meet on time.

In other results from the meet –

Kaidence Atwell was fifth in the 200-meter dash in 27.56 seconds, just missing a state meet berth by a half-second.

Jayda Johnson finished in seventh place in the 400-meter dash in 1:07.24.

Jazmyn Rodriguez was eighth in the 100-meter dash in 13.24 seconds.

Symeria Brown was 11th in the 400-meter dash in 1:10.17.

Kaliyah Leavell was 12th in the 200-meter dash in 29.84 seconds.

Olivia Jones was 13th in the discus throw (59-03) and 14th in the shot put (15-09).

Aubree Cline was 16th in the 1600-meter run in 7:04.16 and was 19th in the 800-meter run in 3:20.56.

The 1600-meter relay team was fifth in 4:30.17 – 12 seconds too much for a state meet at large bid.

As a team, the Lady Colonels finished in an eighth-place tie with 14 points.
