It is just a brutal way to have a state tournament bid come to an end. The Todd County Central Lady Rebels volleyball team reached the 4th Region All A Classic championship game and lost a tough three set battle to Monroe County, losing the final set in heartbreaking fashion 26-24.

The championship match between the Lady Falcons and the Lady Rebels got started with Monroe County taking the opening set 25-19. The Lady Rebels fought back in the second set and evened the match up at one set each with a 25-20 win.

That set up a winner-take-all 3rd set with a berth in the All A state volleyball tournament in Elizabethtown on the line. The two teams had an epic battle through the third set. Sadly, for the Lady Rebels, it was Monroe County who did just enough to win the third set 26-24 and claim the All A regional title.

The Lady Rebels began their day Saturday with a first round match against Foundation Christian Academy out of Bowling Green. Todd County Central rolled through the first set in impressive fashion taking a 25-12 win. The second set was not quite as easy. The Lady Rebels had to fight their way to a 27-25 win to take the match 2 sets to none and advance to the semifinals.

Awaiting the Lady Rebels in the semifinals was Cumberland County. The first set against the Lady Panthers was a tough one, but one that Todd County Central would eventually claim with a 25-23 win to go up one set to none. The Lady Rebels then closed out the match with a 25-19 win in the second set to take a 2-0 win and advance on to the regional title match.

The Lady Rebels will return to action Tuesday evening when they go on the road to Russellville for a 13th District contest.
