Cooper Collins’ first appearance at the All A Classic State Golf Tournament saw the Lyon County junior finish tied for 34th place.
A consistent wind between 10-15 mph, combined with the narrow fairways at Gibson Bay Golf Course, didn’t have too much effect on Collins who struck the ball well off the tee.
The junior had a birdie on each side of the course, both on par 5 holes. He began his day on the back nine where he went out with a 42 and came in with a 40 on the front nine.
His scorecard showed him with a 10-over-par 82.
Cam Roberts of Pikeville was the lone golfer to put a red number on the scoreboard. He shot two-under on the back nine and finished with a 3-under par 69. He defeated Sy McDaniel of Lexington Christian by three shots.
