Lady Lyons Fall to Marshall in Preseason Scrimmage

The Lyon County Lady Lyons closed out the preseason portion of the basketball season with a 75-65 loss to Marshall County at Graves County Saturday. The Lady Lyons won two quarters while the Lady Marshals also won two varsity quarters.

Lyon County’s wins came in close quarters, while Marshall County was able to generate a bit more breathing room in the other two quarters.

Marshall County knocked down three shots from behind the arc in the opening quarter as the Lady Marshals took the quarter 23-15.

Piper Cotham and Trinity Taylor combined to score 14 points in the second quarter as the Lady Lyons took the quarter 16-12.

The Lady Marshals found their long-distance shooting eye in the third quarter again, hitting four 3-pointers and winning the quarter 22-14.

The Lady Lyons, behind four 3-pointers from Courtney Collins, then rebounded to take the 4th quarter 20-18.

Piper Cotham led the Lady Lyons with 21 points. Trinity Taylor and Courtney Collins had 16 points each. Jenna Coursey finished with 12.

Marshall County was led by Skylar Waller with 21.

Lyon County officially opens the 2024-2025 season December 3 at Murray.
