A pair of reserves combined to score 21 points in the fourth quarter for the Bardstown Tigers as they rallied to beat the Hopkinsville Tigers 66-54 in the Farmers Bank and Trust Tip-Off Classic at Muhlenberg County High School Saturday night.
Myles Stone scored 12 points and Chi Poynter added 9 more in the final eight minutes as Bardstown outscored Hopkinsville 26 to 12 to complete the comeback and take the win.
Hopkinsville got a good start from Deavery Ramey, who scored 7 points in the first quarter, as the Tigers took a 15-13 lead.
Layton Giltner and Jonathan Hart had big second quarters as Hopkinsville took a 30-26 lead into the break.
With a strong defensive effort coming out of the locker room, Bardstown started the comeback in the third quarter and cut three points off the lead, cutting the Hopkinsville lead to 41-40 going into the final quarter.
Myles Stone and Chi Poynter then took over the game for Bardstown and carried the Tigers to the 12-point win.
Layton Giltner had a big night for Hopkinsville finishing with 19 points and 12 rebounds. He was named the Hopkinsville player of the game for his performance. James Bradley added 12 points while Treston Kay finished with 11.
Myles Stone led Bardstown with 24 points. Tykeem Williams ended up with 10 points.
Hopkinsville (1-2) head back to Muhlenberg County Tuesday night, this time to take on the Mustangs.
