The Lyon County Lady Lyons continued their best start in school history by dispatching Caldwell County 70-42 Thursday night in the semifinals of the 2nd Region All A Classic in Marion.

Now 14-1 and riding a 13-game winning streak, Lyon’s girls will next face Crittenden County in the All A regional championship game. That game is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 4:00, although that date could be postponed with expected wintry weather on Friday.

Piper Cotham started Thursday’s game with a 3-pointer from the corner and finished with a game-high 19 points.

Lyon never trailed, starting the contest with a 13-2 run and leading 18-7 after one quarter.

Caldwell (6-6) looked momentarily like it might make a agme of it early in the second quarter. However, the Lady Tigers could not find enough offense, and Lyon instead pushed its lead to 44-20 at halftime.

Trinity Taylor added 17 points for the Lady Lyons while Lilly Perry had 12 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.

Sloan Cotham had eight points and seven boards. Jenna Coursey had eight points. Courtney Collins grabbed 16 rebounds to go with six points.

Caldwell got 14 points from Morgan Aikins and 10 from Brylee Butts.

Lyon has beaten Caldwell six straight times and eight of the last nine matchups.
