The Heritage Christian Academy Warriors picked up their second win of the season over the Crittenden County Rockets Tuesday night in Marion. However, it was not nearly as easy as the first time around as the Warriors had to battle all the way to the end to take a 57-54 win.
Back on January 3, the Warriors had rolled to an 84-60 win over the Rockets in Hopkinsville.
The game Tuesday night was tied up at 18-18 after one. The game stayed tight through the second, with HCA taking a 34-33 lead into the half.
The Rockets appeared to have some momentum going their way as the third quarter ended with Crittenden County up 46-45.
The Warrior defense then came through in the final quarter as HCA held Crittenden County to only one field goal over the final 8 minutes as Heritage came back to pick up the three-point win.
A night after being held to half his average by the Hopkinsville Tigers, HCA’s Jason Leek hit for 35 points. Cooper Kirkman added 8 points, six of them in the final quarter as the Warriors rallied to take the lead.
Crittenden County was led by Brayden Poindexter, who ended his night with 19 points. Freshman Drake Young contributed 13 points for the Lady Rockets.
Heritage Christian (7-16) gets a few days off before hosting Fort Campbell Monday night.
