The Dawson Springs Panthers saw their six-game winning streak come to an end Saturday. The Panthers had a double-digit lead get away from them as Community Christian came back to take a 69-66 win in Paducah.
CCA held a 17-16 lead after the first quarter and then extended the lead to 37-32 at the half.
The big story of the first half was Community Christian holding Dawson’s Rex Blue without a field goal. And that defensive effort would continue.
The Panthers battled back in the third quarter behind the play of Easton Bourland and Jaydon Plunkette and took a 50-48 lead into the final quarter.
But, Community Christian got 17 points from Ahmes Dee over the final eight minutes as the Warriors came back to take the 3-point win.
Jaydon Plunkette made six 3s and led Dawson Springs with 22 points. Montgomery Johnston added 20 points and Easton Bourland had 15. The Warriors held Rex Blue to just one field goal and 9 points.
Ahmes Dee was the leading scorer in the game for Community Christian with 32 points.
