
The Franklin–Simpson Lady Wildcats are rolling as the final two weeks of the regular season got underway Monday night. The Todd County Central Lady Rebels fell to the Lady Wildcats on Monday night by a score of 80-56.
The win was the 7th straight and the 21st of the season for Franklin-Simpson.
Todd County Central kept pace in the first quarter, trailing by just five points at 16-11. Jordyn Shemwell led the charge for the Lady Rebels, scoring seven of their 11 points in the opening frame.
However, the second quarter proved to be the turning point in the contest. Franklin-Simpson’s offense erupted for 30 points, shifting the momentum and giving them a commanding 46-24 lead at halftime.
While both teams traded baskets in a high-scoring second half, the Lady Rebels were unable to close the gap with Franklin-Simpson ultimately prevailing by the final 24 point margin.
Shemwell and Alexis Taylor led the Lady Rebels’ scoring effort with 17 points each, while JaMya Kay added 15.
Franklin-Simpson had four players in double figures: Vanessa Ray with 17, Naja Nolan and LaReesha Cawthorn each with 16, and Kloie Smith with 14.
With the loss, the Lady Rebels’ record drops to 13-10 on the season. They will look to bounce back when they host Russellville on Friday night.
