Heritage Christian Academy senior Jason Leek was honored over the weekend by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches for leading the state in scoring at 33.6 ppg. for the 2024-25 season.
While Jason scored points in bunches, his ability to hit shots ahead of the buzzer made him a frequent member of the Max’s Moment Club.
You can relive some of his buzzer-beating Max’s Moments here as we salute Jason for his outstanding career.
Leek’s third quarter buzzer beater in the 2025 8th District Tournament
With a half-second left, Leek hit a shot just inside the half-court line to give the Warriors a 40-38 win at Community Christian on February 21 and earned him this Max’s Moment.
Even though this one came in a preseason scrimmage in November 2024, this one was part of a 38-point night and earned him this Max’s Moment.
In January 2024, he beat the buzzer against Fort Campbell.
Against Caldwell County in 2023, Leek did it twice in one half, one from half-court and one from 3-point range.
In December 2023, Leek beat the buzzer with a three-quarter court shot at the end of the third quarter against Christian Fellowship.
While this one did not come right at the buzzer, Leek sent HCA into the championship game of the KCAA State Tournament in March 2023 with this shot in the final seconds.
In the 2023 KCAA State championship game, Leek and teammate Carlos Robles both provided buzzer-beating heroics in what would be a one-point win and state title.
In January 2023, Leek got a late-game steal in overtime and hit a layup in the final seconds to lead HCA to an All A Classic win over Dawson Springs.
This is the first buzzer-beater for Leek that would become a Max’s Moment. In December 2022 at Caldwell County and the first half winding down, Caldwell County’s Xavy Bumphus drove the lane and converted the bucket. But the half’s scoring wasn’t over as Leek flipped home a 3-pointer ahead of the horn in this Max’s Moment.
