
Make it back-to-back wins to open the 2025 softball season for the Trigg County Lady Wildcats. Trigg got another big performance from Tember Oliver in the circle while Madilynn Smith came up big at the plate as the Lady Wildcats turned back 5th District rival Lyon County 4-1 Tuesday evening at the Trigg County Recreation Complex.
Oliver went seven innings and allowed the Lady Lyons just a 6th inning run on four hits. She struck out seven and walked one.
Trigg County took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Veyda Grinols led off the inning with a single, stole second and third, and then scored on a groundout from Kady Fuller.
The Lady Wildcats (2-0) added two more runs on a single from Madilynn Smith in the bottom of the third. The lead grew to 4-0 when Lexie Valentine scored on a groundout by Smith in the bottom of the 5th.
Lyon County’s run came on an RBI single from Lilly Perry in the top of the 6th.
Madilynn Smith ended up 2-3 with 3 RBIs. Veyda Grinols was 2-4 with two runs scored.
7th grader Ava Prow was 2-3 for the Lady Lyons (0-2). Jenna Coursey and Lilly Perry added one hit each.
Perry went six innings in the circle for Lyon County, giving up four runs on six hits, striking out two and walking four.
