A pair of big wins over the weekend for the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm. Central hosted the Owensboro Knights and came away with a doubleheader sweep.
In the opener, the Lady Storm scored the first six runs of the game and took a 6-0 lead after five innings. Hopkins Central then blew the game open with five more runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Addison Blanchard led the way for the Lady Storm, going 3-5 with a double, a triple, and three RBIs. Cadence Allen, Brinley Stephens, Ella Hopper, and Zoey Hibbs added two hits each.
Emily Ballard got the win in the circle, going all seven innings, giving up two runs, one of them earned, on seven hits, striking out 12 and walking two.
The second game saw the Lady Storm blow open a close game with a four-run top of the fourth to go on and take a 9-2 win to complete the sweep of the day.
Cadence Allen, Brinley Stephens, and Emily Ballard had two hits each. Addison Blanchard ended up 1-4 with a double, 3 RBIs, and two runs scored.
In the circle, Ballard and Layla Sorrells combined to pick up the win.
