Heritage Christian Academy’s all-time leading basketball scorer will take his talents to Bethel University in Tennessee.

Jason Leek made the announcement on social media on Thursday, wrapping up a recruiting process that saw him visit several in-state schools. However, Leek told YourSportsEdge in January he was hoping to play at a school that was close, with the McKenzie, Tennessee school just 88 miles from Hopkinsville.

Leek averaged 33.6 points a game for the Warriors in 2024-25, finishing as the state’s second-leading scorer. The 6-1 guard shot 52% from the field and 38% from the 3-point line. He also led the Warriors in rebounds (8.6), assists, and steals in earning All-District and All-Region honors.

Leek finished his high school career as HCA’s all-time leading scorer with 2,535 points. He topped 50 points four times during his senior season and set a school record with 55 points against Trigg County on Jan. 28.

As a sophomore, Jason scored 16 points a game as the Warriors advanced to the championship game of the 2nd Region All A Classic. That same season, the Warriors bowed out of the Kentucky Christian Athletic Conference with a state championship as Leek was named the tournament MVP.

The 2023-24 season was HCA’s first full season in the KHSAA which also made them eligible for postseason play. The Warriors were 16-15 as Leek averaged 25 points a game while shooting 52% from the field and 78% at the free throw line.

Bethel is an NAIA school that competes in the Mid-South Conference. The Wildcats were 16-12 last year under head coach Jeff Britt, a graduate of Sedalia High School in Graves County, who has coached at Bethel for 25 years.

Leek will sign with Bethel on Tuesday at HCA.
