Before a loss in their last game against the Full Count Rhythm, the Hoptown Hoppers had won back-to-back games. They went into their game on Sunday evening against the Paducah Chiefs looking to get back to that success, and they were able to do just that.

Cody Jones started and was able to pitch seven innings while allowing just two hits. His eight strikeouts were key in the Hoppers being able to take the 5-2 victory over the Chiefs.

The Hoppers struck first in the top of the second inning with a single from Gavin Powell, but they went down 2-1 after the sixth inning. And the seventh is where Hoptown was able to finally take full control.

Gabe Eddington doubled, which scored two runs, immediately followed by another RBI double from Powell that made it 4-2. Finally, a single from Grady Broughton capped off the four-run inning and helped the team secure their lead further.

The team’s other two hits came from Chance Sweeney and Aidon Butts.

Hoptown will be hoping they can start another win streak in their next game on Monday, June 23, against the Fulton Railroaders. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Christian County High School in Hopkinsville, KY.
