Mollie Skipworth is a self-described ‘over-achiever’, which is pretty impressive given the number of activities that comprise her daily life.

As Mollie prepares to head off to Western Kentucky University to study elementary education, she can take pride in her portfolio that spans a wide gamut of clubs and sports at Todd County Central High School.

  • Mollie graduated in May as co-salutatorian with a 4.6 GPA. She earned the Science Award and the Loving Cup.
  • She was the Todd County Central FFA Chapter president and the Pennyrile FFA Chapter sentinel. During her time at Todd County Central, Mollie competed at the state and national FFA convention and brought home many awards.
  • In addition to her memberships in 4-H, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the National Honor Society, Mollie was the student council president. She was also in the basketball homecoming court as a senior.
  • In addition to holding down jobs at Billy Goat Hill and as a lifeguard at the Elk Fork Country Club, Mollie began her own local greenhouse business as her Supervised Agricultural Experience for FFA. She sells flowers, succulents, vegetables, goat’s milk soap, and more. She started her own online shop at https://molliesbloomingboutique.onlineweb.shop

Mollie said her parents were raised on a farm, and she helped out on her uncle’s farm growing up, which in turn, rubbed off on her.

Mollie was a member of the Todd County Central archery team since middle school, which helped her deal with her anxiety on occasion.

“Archery is a mental sport, and having anxiety, it’s helped me learn to calm down and focus more on breathing and technique,” she said. “You have to pay attention to your body and what it’s doing so you can tune in and see what’s going on.”

Mollie learned to balance school, work, and activities, which shouldn’t be too big of an issue in Bowling Green.

“I just have to try and stay on top of things. I take everything one day at a time, and archery has really helped me with that,” she said.

Given Mollie’s practice of over-achieving, success should follow quickly at WKU.

“I’ve always tried to do above and beyond what is expected of me. It’s just something I’ve always done since I was little.”
