The Crittenden County Rockets can now finally stop hearing about that streak. The Rockets ended a losing streak of nearly two years Tuesday night as they pulled away in the second half to take a 68-48 win over Heritage Christian in the quarterfinal round of the 2nd Region All A Classic in Marion.

The win advances the Rockets to Friday night’s semifinals at Fort Campbell, where they will take on tournament favorite Lyon County in the second semifinal contest. The win also ended a 51-game losing streak and was the Rockets’ first win over the Warriors.

The game was close early on with Crittenden County holding a 14-10 lead after the opening quarter. The Rockets got the lead out to double digits in the second before Heritage made a late run in the half to close the margin to 25-20 at the break.

But on this night, there would be no denying the Rockets’ chance to put that losing streak to rest for good. Crittenden County would pull out to a 48-36 lead after the third quarter and then continue to pull away over the final 8 minutes of the game to take the 20-point win.

A big night for Crittenden senior Brayden Poindexter, who finished with 24 points. Roane Topp added 14 points while Jayden Jones and Brady Dayberry scored 10 points each.

Noah Arvin was Heritage Christian’s leading scorer with 10 points. Aaron Hensley added 9 points. Nathan Wheatcraft ended the game with 7 points.

Heritage Christian (1-14) is back in action Saturday afternoon when the Warriors host Christian County in an 8th District contest.
