Caldwell County wins at Webster County have historically been difficult to come by.

Playing without their leading scorer Tuesday night made things even more difficult for the Tigers.

With Pax Aikins and his 20.8 points a game on the bench after tweaking a hamstring at Christian Fellowship School on Monday, Caldwell suffered an 80-52 setback to the Trojans.

Webster (19-7) opened the game with a 17-4 run and the Tigers could never recover.

The Trojans built a 27-12 lead after 8 minutes and held a 42-24 advantage at halftime.

Caldwell (14-14) could get no closer than 14 points in the third period, 47-33, before Webster extended its lead to 62-38 entering the final frame.

The Trojans got a balanced scoring effort in beating Caldwell for the second time this seaon.

Cade Hardrick had 17 points while Caleb Bumpus had 15. Reid McDyer scored 13 points and Kahner Phelps finished with 12. Aiden Alstadt and Jace Shelton just missed double figures with nine points apiece.

Caldwell got 17 points from Daelyn Lander and 11 from Jack Roach. Jaden Boyd and Kese Wilson tallied eight points apiece.

The Tigers will finish the regular season on Thursday when travel to the 1st Region to face Calloway County. That game will be played at the CFSB Center in Murray, following a girls’ game between Calloway and Henderson County.

Caldwell will play in the 7th District tournament next week at Hopkins County Central.
