Hopkins County Central defender Destiny Caudill signed to continue her academic and athletic career at Brescia University on Wednesday.

Caudill has been a standout defender for the Lady Storm soccer program over the past four seasons, earning All-District honors in 2023, 2024, and 2025, as well as All-Region recognition in 2023 and 2025. She was part of a defensive unit during the 2025 season that allowed just 22 goals in 19 matches, helping anchor the program’s most successful seasons.

Hopkins County Central compiled a 44-31 record during Caudill’s four-year career, highlighted by an appearance in the region championship match in 2025. Caudill drew praise from opposing coaches for her defensive play, including University Heights Academy head coach Michael Parker, whose team defeated the Lady Storm in the title match.

Caudill said familiarity with Brescia’s coaching staff and the opportunity to stay close to home played a major role in her decision.

“Staying close to home definitely factored into it a lot, but it also helped that I played travel ball with the coach (Andy Hines), so it definitely just made me more certain that that’s probably the one that I wanted to go to if I were to play soccer,” she said.

Caudill said the success of her senior season has helped shape her mindset as she prepares for the next level.

“I think it’s really good because a lot of people doubted us seniors, and how good we were going to do,” Caudill said. “And we came out and set records, and we won a lot of games that people thought that we weren’t going to win. I think it just means a lot going into college with that same mindset, and if anyone’s doubting us, then we just know we’re going to do our best, and we will succeed.”

Brescia, an NAIA school located in Owensboro, finished 11-6-1 last season with a roster that included only one senior. Caudill will join teammates Lilly Armour and Jaci Childress on the Lady Bearcats squad. All three signed with the school on Wednesday.

At Brescia, Caudill plans to pursue a degree in nursing or healthcare anatomy to become a nurse.

“I just really hope to be a nurse so I can go out in healthcare, help people, make them better, and maybe use my knowledge to teach others good things for themselves,” she said.
