Blazers Tie for 18th Place at the Invitational of the South

The University Heights Academy Blazers tied for 18th place at Saturday’s Invitational of the South at Marshall County High School.

UHA scored five points to tie Mayfield in the team standings.

Running Events

The Blazers were led on the track by Zech Davis, who posted a pair of personal-best performances in the sprint events. Davis finished 26th in the 200 meters with a personal-best 25.30 and followed that with a 19th-place finish in the 400 meters in 58.08, also a personal best.

In the 100-meter preliminaries, Garrett Bowling ran a personal-best 13.02, while seventh-grader Hayden Hayes posted a personal-best 14.09. Britton Marschand added a time of 14.43.

In the 200 meters, Callen Bowe ran a personal-best 28.73 for 53rd place, and Hayes finished 54th in 29.31.

In the 400 meters, eighth-grader Ronan Croney-Salllie turned in one of the team’s top performances with a 21st-place finish in 58.35. Jack Cavanah added a personal-best 1:02.23 for 37th.

In the distance races, Jude Finch led the way for the Blazers. He posted a personal-best 5:15.85 to finish 18th in the 1600 meters, then followed that with another personal best in the 3200 meters, placing 13th in 11:25.96.

In the hurdles, Garrett Bowling recorded a personal-best 50.97 to place 13th in the 300-meter hurdles, while Marschand added a 22nd-place finish in 58.25.

UHA’s 3200 relay team of Garrett Bowling, Graham Conrad, Zech Davis, and Jude Finch finished seventh in 9:15.22, while the 1600 relay team placed sixth in 4:26.16.

Field Events

In the throwing events, Callen Bowe led the Blazers in both the shot put and discus. Bowe posted a personal-best 31-10 in the shot put to finish 33rd, then added a personal-best 64-7 in the discus.

Brock Kilijian recorded a throw of 29-9.5 in the shot put and 61-11 in the discus, while Trent Simmons added marks of 25-2 in the shot put and 53-7 in the discus.

In the jumps, Ronan Croney-Salllie finished 10th in the triple jump with a personal-best 37-5.

In the long jump, Jack Conrad posted a personal-best 15-9 for 27th place, while seventh-grader Caleb Bowling added a personal-best 12-9.5.
