Fifth Inning Explosion Leads Christian County Past Franklin-Simpson

Christian County went into their game on Wednesday against Franklin-Simpson having lost their last one to Breckenridge County in a close 1-0 game. The Colonels were able to bounce back in a big way, and they did so with a 12-5 victory on the road in the Sunshine State.

A double from Chase Fort and a homer from Edward Davis gave the Colonels their first two runs of the game, but the Wildcats were able to get some offense of their own going with five runs in the first two innings.

But those ended up being the only runs that Franklin-Simpson was able to score in the game.

There were a couple quiet innings where no runs were scored, but then Christian County exploded for 10 in the top of the fifth to firmly take control of the game. This proved to be enough for the win, and gave the Colonels their seventh win of the year, and their third in their last four games.

Fort, Davis, and Dylan Sweeney led the way for Christian County at the plate with two RBIs apiece, while Gage Montes got the start on the mound and racked up six strikeouts while allowing just two runs.

The Colonels will be looking to take this momentum into their next game against the Ballard Memorial Bombers on Thursday, April 9. This will conclude Christian County’s road trip to Florida
