Two teams who will be playing for a state championship in the coming weeks met on Tuesday in Cadiz with Trigg County edging Livingston Central 3-2.
The Lady Wildcats scored three unanswered runs and got a strong effort in the circle from Tember Oliver to pick up their first regular season win over Livingston Central since 2019.
Oliver and Addison Tramble, as expected, hooked up in a classic pitcher’s duel. Oliver struck out six and walked two while allowing just four hits. Tramble struck out 13 and walked three while also allowing four hits.
The loss was Tramble’s first of the season in 12 decisions. The freshman owns a 54-7 career record in the circle.

The Lady Cardinals staked their hurler to a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Naveah Jennings doubled and later scored on a double by Tramble. The Lady Cardinals added another run later in the inning when Irelynn Burns reached on a bunt and a throwing error allowed Tramble to score for a 2-0 lead.
Trigg County answered in the bottom of the third. Veyda Grinols started the inning with a single. One out later, Oliver doubled to left to score Grinols and cut the deficit to 2-1. Livia Breckel followed with a double off the centerfield wall to tie the game.
The Lady Wildcats pushed across the go-ahead run in the fifth. Fuller worked a walk, stole second, and came around to score when Maddie Smith reached on a fielder’s choice.
At the plate, Trigg County was led by Oliver and Breckel, who each had a double and an RBI. Grinols and Emmalee Futrell each added singles, while Smith drove in the eventual game-winning run.
For Livingston Central, Jennings went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Tramble was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a run scored, and two walks.

Coupled with last year’s 2-0 win for the district championship, the back-to-back wins by Trigg County over Livingston are their first in seven years. Livingston Central still leads the all-time series 57-12.
Tuesday’s game was a matchup of the No. 8 (Livingston Central) and No. 21 (Trigg County) teams in the latest coaches poll.
UP NEXT – Trigg County (17-4, 1-1) will begin play in the Class 2A State Championship on Friday at Jack Fisher Park in Owensboro. They will play Clay County (7-7) at 1:45.
