Paysen Oliver struck out 15 and fired a three-hit shutout to help Lyon County dispatch Livingston Central 9-0 in 5th District action Tuesday in Eddyville.
If that wasn’t enough, the Lyon junior also hit a two-run, inside-the-park home run and finished the day 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs batted in.
The homer came as part of a seven-run fifth inning that allowed Lyon to open up the game after Livingston was able to hang within 1-0 most of the day.
Meanwhile, Oliver was not giving the Cardinals many offensive opportunities. Livingston had three singles and a walk.
Oliver knocked in the game’s first run when he got down a bunt in the third inning that scored Axel Bingham, who had started the frame with a single.
The scored remained 1-0 until Oliver’s home run on a line drive to center. That put Lyon up 3-0.
Tanner Anderson doubled home two runs to make it 5-0.
Easton White drove in another run with a double.
A passed ball and an error allowed two more runs to cross the plate to extend the margin to 8-0.

The Lyons added one more run in the sixth when Hudson Phillips tripled and then scored on a double by Carson Lewis.
Phillips was 2-for-3 and scored twice for Lyon. Anderson went 2-for-4 and knocked in two. Lewis was 2-for-4 with an RBI as Lyon recorded 12 base hits in the contest.
Easton Smith was 2-for-3 for Livingston.
The Lyons are now 7-6 overall and 3-0 in district play. Livingston is 1-12 and 0-1.
Lyon has taken 18 straight from the Cardinals.
The two teams will play again Thursday in Smithland.
