
Christian County and University Heights both had win streaks going into their game against one another. But it was the Colonels who were able to keep that streak going by going on the road and getting a 5-3 win over the Blazers.
The Colonels struck first in the top of the first inning with a single from Layton Creamer. That was the only score for a while, until Christian County was able to follow it up with another run from a single from Layton Lindsey.
University Heights scored their first run of the game on a double from Cadence Gibson, but the Colonels answered right back with yet another RBI single from Creamer.
A pair of clutch singles from UHA’s AJ Hogart and Josh Pace tied the game up at three runs apiece to force extras, but Christian County took the lead right back with a steal of home and a walk with the bases loaded. After that, the Colonels’ pitching got it done in the final inning to seal the win.
Jaiden Miles started on the mound for the Blazers, pitching the first five innings of the game. He racked up seven strikeouts, but was not able to fully shut down the hot offense of the Colonels.
As for Christian County, Edward Davis also tallied seven strikeouts while allowing just four hits. Sebastian Dazey also came in and got the final four outs of the game for the Colonels, three of them coming by way of the strikeout.
The victory in this game for Christian County also means that they have secured the top seed in the district tournament.
The Colonels will be looking for their fifth straight win in their next game on Saturday, April 18, against Farragut. First pitch of that game will be at 10 a.m. at Bowling Green High School.
For the Blazers, they will be hoping to get back on the right track in their next game against the Vikings of St. Mary on Saturday, April 18. Their game will begin at 11 a.m. at University Heights Academy.
