University Heights Academy’s Lady Blazers finished in fourth place at Friday’s Blue and Gold Track and Field Invitational at Barren County High School.
The Lady Blazers were led by Ajae Oatts, who captured the 100-meter dash in 13.17 and then added a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash at 27.99.
Kendall Hancock also picked up a victory, winning the 400-meter dash in a season-best 1:04.30, while Amoree Owen placed fifth in the same event at 1:09.72. Owen also came in 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.34.
In the hurdles, Harper Bolinger earned a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles in 53.92. Bolinger also finished 14th in the 200-meter dash at 30.78.
In the sprints, Cassie Keller was 12th in the 100-meter dash at 14.49.
UHA’s 800-meter relay team of Oatts, Bolinger, Owen, and Hancock finished second in 1:54.59. The 400-meter team of Oatts, Bolinger, Keller, and Owen finished third in 54.13 seconds, believed to be a new school record. The old mark was 54.40, run at last year’s state meet.
In the field events, Cassie Keller placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 13-0 and added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at 28-2.75.
In the throws, Rhyss Sallie finished 14th in the discus at 36-5 and 13th in the shot put at 18-0.
As a team. UHA scored 66 points to finish fourth behind South Warren (147), Glasgow (139), and Barren County (117).
