
Christian County’s Satona Bailey further cemented his status as the fastest sprinter in school history with a record-breaking performance at Saturday’s Daviess County Invitational.
The junior won the 100-meter dash in 10.80 seconds, breaking his own mark of 10.97 seconds ran twice before at the 2024 region meet and last year’s state meet.
In addition to the three fastest times, Bailey has also run five of the school’s seven fastest times, according to Milesplit archives.
Bailey also won the 200 meters in 22.42 seconds – the fourth fastest time in Christian County history. Bailey has a month to try and etch his name ahead of Tre Blanton’s record time of 22.21 seconds run in 2023.
Also in the 100, Tom Johnson was 11th in 12.12 and Levar Daniel was 12th in 12.16.
In the 200, Karmelo Bailey added an eighth-place finish in 25.14, while Landrien Banks was 15th in 26.36.
In the hurdles, Daniel placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 45.91, while Tavarous Haskins was eighth in 48.24.
In the 400 meters, Richard Brown finished 16th in 1:02.03 and Banks was 17th in 1:02.38.
In the distance races, Mason Clark led the Colonels in the 800 meters with a 12th-place finish in 2:26.10. Max Ray was 19th in 2:32.26 and Bryce Hamlin was 22nd in 2:44.92.
Cayden Cline finished seventh in the 1600 meters in 4:53.27, while Lucas Coats was 16th in 5:01.73. Coats later came back to place 10th in the 3200 meters in 11:20.28.
Christian County’s 400 relay team of Paul Abren, Satona Bailey, Karmelo Bailey, and Tom Johnson took second in 44.72.
The 800 team of Abren, De’Asian Harris, Daniel, and Karmelo Bailey finished third in 1:37.29, and the 1600 squad of Brown, Chynaysneon Harris, De’Asian Harris, and Banks was fifth in 4:02.97.
The 3200 relay team of Cayden Cline, Max Ray, Lucas Coats, and Mason Clark placed fourth in 9:08.78.
Eighth-grader Frank Irving cleared 5-6 to finish third in the high jump.
In the long jump, Chynaysneon Harris placed fifth with a leap of 19-9.75, Tom Johnson was sixth at 18-8, and Tavarous Haskins finished 11th at 16-3.
In the triple jump, Haskins was sixth at 37-7.50, while Harris followed in seventh at 36-4.
J.D. Telensru finished sixth in the shot with a throw of 38-3.
Christian County scored 72 points to finish in fourth place behind Daviess County (139), Hopkinsville (128), and Evansville Harrison (78).
