
The Hopkins County Central Lady Storm dodged the rain drops long enough to split a pair of games at Webster County on Saturday.
Hopkins Central defeated the host Lady Trojans 9-5 but fell to Carlisle County 8-5.
In the win, the Lady Storm (2-12) broke a 5-5 deadlock with four runs in the top of the seventh. That was after Webster had tied the game with a four-run sixth.
Cadence Allen doubled home a run during the key seventh inning and finished the game 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Addison Blanchard went 3-for-5 with a double while Emily Ballard was 2-for-2 and drove in three.
Pennie Williams finished 2-for-4 and knocked in the go-ahead run in the seventh with a single.
Layla Sorrells was the winning pitcher for the Lady Storm after taking over from Ballard with two outs in the sixth inning. She allowed one walk and one hit in 1.1 innings.
For Webster (8-11-1), Layla Scott was 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Alyssa Cartwright and Natalie Eversole were each 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Earlier, the Lady Storm saw Carlisle County use a five-run fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie.
Allen was 2-for-3 in that game and scored a pair of runs. Brinley Stephens went 2-for-2 with a double and scored once.
Carlisle (4-7) was led by Gracyn Edging, who was 2-for-4 at the plate.
The Lady Comets managed just three base hits in the contest, but used 11 walks and two Hopkins Central errors to score its runs.
Eden Bruer was the winning pitcher for Carlisle. She allowed two earned runs on six hits while striking out three and walking four.
Reese Renth suffered the loss for Hopkins Central despite striking out 15 and giving up three hits. She allowed just one earned run.
Hopkins Central returns home on Tuesday to play McLean County.
