Lyon County’s track and field teams continue to rack up personal-best times following their performance at Tuesday’s 12-team quad meet at Calloway County.
The guys were led by senior Ethan Gossard, who finished seventh in the 800-meter run in 2:32.73 and added a 14th-place finish in the 1600-meter run in 5:39.94.
Lyon County also had three other runners in the 800 meters, with Sean Weatherspoon placing 21st in 2:54.74, Lucas Poague finishing 23rd in 2:57.70, and seventh-grader Jacob Townsend taking 27th in 3:35.76.
In the 1600 meters, Poague posted a personal-best 6:23.49 to finish 26th, while Weatherspoon came in 27th in 6:50.53.
Freshman Jeremy Patton competed in three sprint events for the Lyons, placing 35th in the 100-meter dash in 14.58, 33rd in the 200-meter dash in 31.01, and 22nd in the 400-meter dash in 1:11.47.
In the field events, Townsend threw a personal-best 18-11.5 in the shot put to place 24th in the varsity competition and added a 22nd-place finish in the discus at 28-9.
Joseph Kingston placed third in the boys unified shot put with a throw of 31-1.
The 3200-meter relay team of Ethan Gossard, Lucas Poague, Sean Weatherspoon, and Jacob Townsend finished sixth in 12:55.
Meanwhile, seventh-grader Olivia Poague finished 29th in the 100-meter dash in 16.80, 26th in the 200-meter dash in 37.24, and 15th in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best 1:23.64.
Lyon County also competed in the mixed unified 4×75-meter relay, where Olivia Poague and Joseph Kingston teamed up to finish second in 24.26 seconds.
