Warriors Hold Off Warren Central for 8-7 Victory

Heritage Christian Academy put up three runs in the 1st and 4th innings and overcame seven errors on Thursday to knock off hosts Warren Central 8-7.

Tycen Wells got the Warriors started with an RBI double in the top of the 1st, followed by run-scoring singles by Preston Haddock and Caden Hale for an early 3-0 advantage.

A Collin Outland solo home run made it 4-0 in the 2nd before the Dragons got two runs back in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles from Braylon Whitney and Prince Alfons.

The Warriors tacked on three more runs in the 4th, highlighted by RBI doubles from Cadyn Travis and Wells, before Warren Central climbed back into it with four runs over the final three frames.

HCA saw its lead trimmed to a single run after an error with no outs in the bottom of the 7th, but Aaron Hensley coaxed a ground out and a double play to end the threat.

Caden Gresham worked six innings to earn the win, allowing six runs, two earned, on eight hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Hensley got the final three outs, giving up an earned run on two hits.

Travis and Wells each had two hits and drove in two runs, and Outland collected two hits and an RBI.

KeMichael Cofer took the loss on the mound, surrendering eight runs, seven earned, on 11 hits with a strikeout and two walks. The Dragons slipped to 2-19 on the season.

Heritage Christian improved to 7-14 ahead of a trip to Fort Campbell on Friday. The Warriors knocked off the Falcons 11-8 in the teams’ first meeting this season.
