Wildcats Erupt for 17-0 Win Over Livingston Central

A 14-run 3rd inning on Thursday sent Trigg County to its first 5th-District win of the season with a 17-0, three-inning rout of hosts Livingston Central.

Ty Gootee was perfect on the mound for the Wildcats, striking out six with no walks over three innings. Livingston’s only two baserunners reached on a pair of Trigg errors.

After Aaden Allen’s RBI double highlighted a three-run 1st for the Wildcats, they exploded in the 3rd to put the game away. Bentley Reynolds doubled in a run, and Carson Kline and James Garnett also drove in runs with doubles.

Allen finished 4/4 at the plate with three RBI, Reynolds had a hit and drove in three runs, and Kline added two RBI. Jon Humphries, Garnett, and Cannon Scott each drove in a run, and Brody Calhoun had two hits for the Wildcats.

Livingston Central dropped its seventh in a row to slip to 2-21 ahead of two games on Saturday at the Hickman County Triangle.

Trigg County improved to 5-17, 1-3 in district play, to snap a three-game skid. The Wildcats will be on the road on Monday for a matchup with Crittenden County. The Rockets won 14-11 in eight innings in the teams’ first meeting this season.
