
Madisonville-North Hopkins was shut out for the first time since early April on Tuesday, snapping a three-game win streak with a 10-0 loss at Owensboro Catholic. The Aces continued their late-season momentum with a seventh-straight win to improve to 22-6.
The Aces broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the 4th, including an RBI single from Mason Russelburg, and blew the game open with seven more runs in the 5th.
Drew Miles doubled in a run, and Mason Moser and Alex Hood followed with RBI singles. Owensboro Catholic made it 9-0 with a run on one of four Maroon errors in the 5th, and the Aces added the final run on a single from Jake Murphy to end the game in the 6th.
Blake Prow took the loss for Madisonville, allowing eight runs, six earned, on 11 hits with three strikeouts over four innings. Alex Richards and Brantley Harris each finished with two hits for the Maroons.
Gentry Atwell earned the win on the mound, scattering three hits over three scoreless innings with a walk and five strikeouts. Barrett Evans was 3/3 at the plate for the Aces, and Hood had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.
Madisonville slipped to 18-11 ahead of a visit from Henderson County on Thursday. The Maroons have won the last two after snapping the Colonels’ six-game winning run in the series.
