
Despite losing their last two games of their regular season, the Lyon County baseball team was able to bounce back with a commanding 15-2 win against Livingston Central to advance to the 5th District Championship.
Paysen Oliver hit a single on a bunt in the bottom of the first inning to give the Lyons a 1-0 lead. but it was the second where they were really able to break the game open.
Lyon County scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning, and that scoring was highlighted by a pair of RBI doubles from Colton Prow and Carson Lewis. The Cardinals scored their first run of the game in top of the third on a double of their own, but Lyon responded by scoring five more.
They got another two runs in the fourth, and their pitching was able to close it out and force the mercy rule by allowing just one run to Livingston Central in the top of the fifth inning.
The leader in the game for Lyon County was absolutely Prow, who finished the game with three base hits and an impressive five runs batted in. Other notable performances came from Lewis with three hits of his own, and Easton White with three RBIs.
The Lyons now advance to the 5th District Championship on Tuesday, May 19, where they will face off against the Crittenden County Rockets. First pitch of their game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Trigg County Recreational Complex.
